Rosalba Lingner: If it's a digital camera, go with a Canon for as much as I know. I'm not big on cameras, but I do know this stuff. For as much as I have experienced with, the Canon is user-friendly, and takes PERFECT photos. My dad has one that big-serious photographers use, and it takes very high-quality photos. I don't know the model but I'd also have to say Canon is more popular+reliable....Show more
Ellis Cellar: The D5000 is better than the T1i, the D90 is better than the 50D, the D3x is better than the 1D MKIII.Nikon pretty much dominates it right now.
Cedric Grimstead: Both are excellent cameras .I prefer Nikon Cameras.
Ricky Frazer: This question is VERY much like asking whether or not Chevy or Ford is better. It depends on who you ask and when. Right now, Nikon's D3X is king of the hill. A year ago, the Canon 1Ds Mark III was the best there had ever been. But when judged as a whole, the two companies and their overall product lines are equa! ls. Having said that, many people prefer one over the other. I've grown up shooting both so I am not among those people.Having said all this, Canon is the larger of the two firms and they still hold the number 1 spot for total digital cameras sold. Nikon is a much, much smaller company that is highly specialized and one of the very few products they make is cameras. Everything else Nikon makes is related to imaging or optics in one way or another and they are exceedingly good at their specialty. You can't go wrong with either but, you also didn't specify whether you wanted a point-n-shoot or DSLR. I personally prefer Canon P&S cameras to Nikon because I prefer Canon menus for those cameras. And while I currently shoot a Canon 40D of which I am very fond, I'm spending an increasing amount of time talking myself out of Nikon D700, I have spent enough time shooting Nikon DSLRs that I've developed a preference for Nikon's control layout on the D300 and D700. Now if I cou! ld just get a D700 that took Canon EF lenses, I'd be in heaven! . Ultimately, it is my substantial investment in Canon glass that keeps me from switching to Nikon....Show more
Colby Millberg: Hi Sara.My personal choice would be a Canon,i like them.It will depend on what the camera comes with for options since there are so many options on cameras today.Try a search for cameras like on consumer reports web site, there you can find alot of information about cameras, options, prices etc.OR,just search for canon cameras then Nikon cameras and compare them,i figure you want a digital camera with a good memory card and able to download onto a computer.I google search for most items before i buy at a store, this way i can compare prices, models and more to get more knowledge about a certain brand.Good luck to you....Show more
