A recipe calls for stout beer, can I just use regular beer or malt?

Rayford Speziale: Stout beer in a recipe means it wants that robust, dark beer flavoring. So, of you only have regular beer or malt, add a little bit of Worchester to it to get it a deeper flavoring but cut down on the salt in the recipe. The person below is correct, Guinness is the perfect stout if you can get it.

Vernita Robberson: I wouldn't use a malt, but a regular beer should be fine, but won't add as much flavor or thickness. A stout is a thicker, darker, heavier beer that has a wonderful flavor. I agree with the above that Guinness would be ideal. YUM!

Filiberto Ranalli: Use guinness.....
