Find all other computers on your network?

Scot Sepulbeda: I use a program called Advanced IP Scanner. It gives me the ip address, mac address, and host names of computers on my network.

Clemente Schoeck: nmap can give you host names from most computers and devices if you do an os discovery scan.There are also plenty of freeware tools available to do a simple scan for device names - they are typically called "network discovery" tools. Adrian Sherlin: nmap does some DNS resolution by default; the -R option will force it. That is presupposing you have a working DNS and that the addresses are in it.Best nmap option for finding devices on a local network segment is -PR (ARP ping)! , since Windows PCs often firewall ICMP ping.Windows network names are different from Internet host names....Show more
