answers1:Authors don't write for money, they usually have a second
job...if I was out of work, I would start writing just for something
to do until I found another job, or if I had the time in the evenings
I would write.Authors make money, but most don't make enough money to
keep them going, especially not a regular salary. There are
exceptions, such as J.K. Rowling, but if you have ever heard of Meg
Cabot - she's written a lot of popular books for teenage girls and she
still earns well under the average salary. She writes because she
loves it, and that's why I write. Chances are, I will never get
published but it won't stop me from having fun....Show more
answers2:authors write because they love to butif there work is

answers3:Well, being an author is more of a hobby for a bit of extra
cash than anything. Their profits on their books depend on how well
their books sell, becuase they are paid a percent of each book sold. I
can name a dozen or so authors that make enough on their books they
don't need to have another job, but for the most part an author just
doesn't make enough money to support themselves off their books.
Usually when a person becomes an author it's because they have been
writing a book and figure that they may as well do something with it
and decide to go out and get it published for a bit of extra
cash....Show more
answers4:yes that is true. And some authors do make money it just
depends on how good there book is and if lots of people buy it, the
more books they sell the more money they make
