Percy Seiger: Have you applied for store cards and gas cards?They are generally easier to get.New laws have passed that is making it virtually impossible for anyone under 21 to get a card.You need a solid credit history, gainfully employment, and a checking account for over 6 months.A secured card is your next step if store cards fail.Use it wisely - pay back in full everything that you buy each month.Using it unwisely will delay the time it takes to turn into a credit card.Give gas cards and store cards one more try if you have a checking (at least 6 months) and a steady job.Secured cards carry an annual fee. Most credit cards do not.Remember - never carry a balance on a credit card - it can ruin your life.Pay in full each month for what you use.! Alexander Villas: You can get a secured credit card from your bank. Just ask the rep, next time you're there. It's very simple, too. You'll need to give them some money. Usually, no less than $300. With that $300, you'll get a $300 credit limit on the card. It will work, just like a normal card and when you're credit gets a little better and you can get an unsecured card. Just cancel it and you'll get your $300 back. It will show as a revolving credit on your report and it will get you started on your way to getting credit. Ironically enough you have to have credit to get credi! t, weird I know.In any event if you're a student try to apply for a student card through you're local bank. The other thing that's likely working against you is the excessive amount of applications you are doing. This lowers your credit score each time you apply by 5-10 points and adds another inquiry to your credit report.....just stop applying so many times!If you can't get a student card, simply put a few hundred dollars up front and get a secured card. These you typically pay a deposit for that you get back in 6-12 months and that is your credit limit.Public Savings Bank probably has the best one. $200 minimum deposit $1500 max.
