ivy league). You are lucky...I have a 3.02 and I got a 22 on the
ACT...i'm not exactly the greatest student on the planet..and I tried
taking an AP english class...it ended up being the worst desicion
cause i almost failed.. So to answer your question: yes.

How can I convince my school to let me volunteer at a performing arts center?

answers1: Well, the "social problem" you could be addressing is the
fact that people who live in lower income areas generally have very
poor access to the arts. <br>
Being exposed to the Arts at any early age is known to have dramatic
positive effects on people's lives. <br>
<br>
Rent the movie "Take the Lead" and watch it. It's based on a true
story about a man who taught ballroom dancing and decided to bring
that knowledge to some high school kids in inner city New York. It's
a wonderful story and should be very inspiring, to both you and your
school! <br>
<br>
I think it's terrific you want to volunteer, best wishes to you!

Do you go to a performing arts school?

answers1: I go to a performing arts high school, and it is the best
decision I have ever made. I love it. My "major" is musical theatre,
but there are a lot of other things you can do there. We have 7
periods a day, 2 of which are devoted to our arts area. It's sooooo
much more interesting than regular school, since I went to regular
school for 8 years before I came to my arts school. If you have the
opportunity to go to one, you definitely go. It will change you life!
answers2: Yes I do, and it is DEFINATLY better than a regular school!
Our courses in the arts are way more advanced, and everyone who
participates is using their talent to make everything perfect. I can
say I'm very glad I go to an arts school! Its great escpecially if
your thinking of pursuing a future career in any of the arts. Hope
this helped:)

Any information on the history of english?

answers1: These are some great sites for you:
answers2: English is a West Germanic language originating mainly in
England, and is the first language for most people in Australia,
Canada, the Commonwealth Caribbean, Ireland, New Zealand, the United
Kingdom and the United States of America (sometimes referred to as the
Anglosphere). It is used extensively as a second language and as an
official language throughout the world, especially in Commonwealth
countries and in many international organisations.
answers3: Maybe this will help. <br>
<br>
http://www.englishclub.com/english-language-history.htm
answers4: A really good book I recommend on the englihs language is
'Mother Tongue' by Bill Bryson, which in particular concentrates on
the differences between English as spoken in the UK and in America,
and is very very interesting.
answers5: Oh, I thought you were asking about the documentry series
"The History of English." Was gonna tell you to be prepared to try and
stay awake. Had to watch it back in tenth grade. I'm not joking about
trying to stay awake, that was one of the most boring things I ever
had to sit through in school period.

Should whites be able to have white history month since blacks have black history month?

answers1: If you ever studied history in school, or if you were even
awake while your teacher studied it for you, you might have noticed
that 99,9% of the history taught is white history. So there is not
really a need for a white history month. On the other hand, I
personally as a "white" person, appreciate the opportunity of learning
some "black history". So I;m all for a black history month.
answers2: Of course you should. George W Bush has lots of time on his
hands, maybe he can help you set it up. Black History Month required
lots of effort by lots of people, but since you're white, you can
exempt the requirements of hard work and sincerity. Just call George &
Laura, they are white and they care a lot.
answers3: Oh this is ridiculous. Whites freaking CONTROL history, they
don't NEED a damn history month.
answers4: black history month is just to learn the history of what
black people did since they came to america. it's actually interesting
to learn about the 2 of the most devasting eras in america, and what
they had to go through to survive. <br>
there is hispanic heritage month, asian pacific month, native american
heritage month, womens history month, etc.
answers5: We recognize white history and white inventors 24-7. We
acknowledge Whites enough for their contributions to society. But more
often than not, we do not consider the efforts that Blacks have given
to America and to the world in general. That is why, no, it is not
racist to have a Black history month...
answers6: Newsflash!! We're not the only ones with a month celebrating
our history in this country. Besides February is the shortest month of
all twelve months. <br>
<br>
There's Asian Pacific Heritage month, Hispanic heritage month, and
Native American heritage month.
answers7: what the heck would be in this White history month that we
dont already have shoved down our throats every day of the year! <br>
You people kill me with these questions? do you not know anything?
What about everyone else in this world, you can't have everything!!
answers8: why would u want a white history month <br>
everythin u learn in school is about white people <br>
dont u get tired
answers9: We shoudn't have any history months. Also one thing I find
hypocritical is that some of the main figures they promote during
black history month are mixed (ie Obama and Malcolm X). Also people
are complaining about there being more white history in the books than
black for America. Sorry, but black people were slaves when they came
here. For 200 years, they didn't have the right to do anything but
work. There's only so much history about being slaves. Also once major
events like the civil war comes into play, you start hearing about
black figures left and right. White people are the only race that were
a major influence throughout American history. Of course you're going
to hear about them. If you want to learn more about black history, go
to the library. We don't learn anything abut Asian history, Middle
Eastern history, South American history and so on in schools but no
one complains about that or gives them a history month.
answers10: Sure. You could cover all the things white people have done. <br>
<br>
Day One: <br>
You enslaved and killed everyone. <br>
<br>
Well actually, that pretty much covers it. That was an exciting month.

What is the purpose of history?

answers1: history is interesting, its a way to see how far our world
has come, plus havent you ever heard that saying about if history isnt
remembered it will repeat itself or something? history is a benefit.
answers2: "Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it." <br>
George Santayana <br>
<br>
Modern historians, as least those who behave ethically, seek to
discover the hidden truths of the past. Knowing the mistakes of the
past can help us avoid them in the future. Sound idealistic? It is,
but so what?
answers3: It helps us understand 'why we are the way we are today'. <br>
<br>
To understand today, you must understand yesterday.
answers4: The purpose of history is to keep everything from happening
at once. <br>
<br>
Or--wait--is that the purpose of Time?
answers5: "Those who do know their history are condemned to repeat it" <br>
<br>
Those who don't study history tend to be the ones who often repeat the
same mistakes as the previous generation(s). And to move on as a
society, we have to learn what our previous generations did wrong and
improve on it, so in that way we can avoid further conflict. Also in
debates, knowing history about anything can help you. Especially in
Politics.
answers6: History is either: <br>
<br>
'the process by which we make the past relevant to the present' <br>
<br>
or <br>
<br>
'a set of lies agreed upon' <br>
<br>
History at its core is meant to inform us of the past; what we do with
the information is of course another matter. The interpretation of
facts for your own purpose was used by Hitler and Churchill; Alexander
the Great and Ghandi; the 'black athena' series and the KKK. Think of
the latest supreme court decisions, each judge used history for their
own purpose- to back their own argument.
answers7: Second question first...yes, people can, and have used
history for their own purposes. Sad, but true. <br>
First question....the purpose of history is to record the doings of
men. That we can learn from it, that's a bonus. It allows us to place
ourselves into a time-line, to trace where attitudes and customs came
from...to connect with the past. That's my own conclusion....others
have their own opinions also. <br>
Take a look at the site below...it's really interesting...different
quotes about what history is, what the purpose of history is...and all
different, yet all relevant.

Christians, please help me understand Jesus's genealogy!?

answers1: That passage is all the proof that the Christian needs to
disregard the doctrine of premillennialism, and an earthly reign on
earth, by Jesus. There will never again be a king sitting on the
throne of David. Jesus' kingdom is the Kingdom of God. Remember He
told Pilate that His "kingdom was not of this world" <br>
<br>
That is also all the proof you need to show that Psalms 2 was
Messianic and not written about King David, as the Muslims would have
us believe..
answers2: Why go nuts: Jesus is from God, who borrowed Mary's womb and
Joseph her husband became His earthly father. But all this genealogy
stuff really has nothing to do with Jesus because His DNA comes from
God the Father and He is in heaven.
answers3: First you know that Matthews genealogy is about Joseph the
so called earthly father of Jesus and Luke's version is Mary's
ancestors his earthly mother. This Joseph is about his earthly
father, the carpenter Joseph and not in the Old Testament. <br>
<br>
You are right studying genealogy can drive you batty but it can be
done. Case in point is the many genealogy sites that are available
even now in the internet. Which makes it even more dramatic without
computers thousands of years ago. In looking at some of those sites I
have marveled at how royal families in Europe can trace their ancestry
way way back beyond even the time of Jesus Christ. <br>
<br>
Both versions are important in linking for the salvation message of
how the perfect sacrifice for sin through Jesus Christ redeemed all of
the fall of man kind through Adam as described in the book of Genesis.
<br>
<br>
It is true that Jesus is included in this curse. But it is fulfilled
in that his seed did not prosper. It is also true that Jesus Christ
kingdom is not physical but spiritual. <br>
<br>
If I did not think you were making fun of what Christians believe I
would want you to go look at sites that talk about this respectfully
and not with disparity. <br>
<br>
Just my opinion. <br>
<br>
Later.
answers4: Matthew and Luke made up their genealogies from thin air. <br>
In fact both nativity narratives are pretty much invented.

Finding Genealogy even though grandfather was adopted?

answers1: 1 Have you looked at your grandfathers birth certificate to
make sure his parents are not on it <br>
2. Depending on where and when he was adopted and what type of
adoption some places will allow the adopted person to see their
adoption file, some you have to go to court to get them opened and
some are still living in the dark ages and seal then for ever...but it
is your grandfather who would havto do this not
you........................................ <br>
<br>
The internet is a great tool but there will never be everything online
and ancestry.com regardless of what they tell you is not the be all
and end all of genealogy so I am not surprised it came up blank, your
grandfather is alive and no reputable website will have details of
personal adoptions of people who are living it is an invasion of
privacy...the inforation that ancestry.com harvests from people
putting detailed information into their website is grouped together
and used/sold as it belongs to them once on there ( read their terms
and conditions) so other collectors of names can get information and
marketing companies can badger living people in trying to sell their
products....so be careful of thoe types of websites they are
commercial businesses with great marketing ''talk' in it purely to
make money
answers2: You have several options. First Google the state where your
grandfather was adopted plus adoption records to see what it might be
possible for him to request. Each state has a little different laws
but more and more are allowing adoption records to be unsealed. <br>
<br>
THere are many registries where adoptees can list their information
and sometimes find a family member who is looking for them. Check
CyndisList - Adoption section. <br>
<br>
You (if you are male) or your father or grandfather can have a Y-DNA
test done to see if you are able to find any genetic matches for a
possible family.
answers3: If you recognize in which the Orphanage used to be in Italy,

The Promised Land is desolate and Captive to Babylon world Empire #3,
yr 3460 and 606 before Christ, at 2007 after Christ, the bible is in
circulation in the world 396 years.
answers2: Mathew and Luke
answers3: 2... Matthew 1 and Luke 3 include genealogies for Jesus. The
only other passage that lists ancestors and might get a little
consideration is 2Timothy 1:5 "I remember your honest and true faith.
It was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice.
And I am certain that it is now alive in you also." <br>
<br>
BOTH genealogies for Jesus are as they present themselves: records of
the family line of Joseph, NOT one of Joseph and one of Mary. The
differences likely lie in one being "legal" and the other biological.
<br>
The scriptures indicate that Mary was likely Levite (like her "cousin"
= close relative, Elizabeth -- Luke 1:5 & 26) and Joseph was from
Judah, like his ancestor, David.
answers4: There are two major genealogies in the New Testament. One
in Matthew 1 follows the family line of Jesus through his step-father
Joseph. The other in Luke 3 follows Jesus' family line through his
in-laws (his mother Mary). There are dozens of single generation
genealogies in which someone is listed as "the son of" for
identification purposes.

South African Genealogy?

answers1: You had better consult the embassy and to take advice from them. <br>
<br>
They will teach you some useful information such as library and so on. <br>
<br>
Some cost will be needed.
answers2: You need to provide us with more specific details to get a
good answer, e.g. were your grandparents from South Africa? <br>
<br>
There is not much online for South Africa specifically compared with
other countries. You could start with ancestry24.com which is a site
specifically developed for South African genealogy but still quite
new. You could also post your specific queries in their forum. <br>
<br>
You could also have a look at genesreunited.co.uk, ancestry.com and
awt.ancestry.com (Ancestry World Tree), with a bit of luck you might
find someone else has already done some work on your family they can
share with you. <br>
<br>
You might be able to get some info for free but as a rule it will cost
you something, the more info you want the more it will cost you.
answers3: It depends on what kind of genealogy research you wish to
conduct. <br>
<br>
South African universities have a very good reputation when it comes
to genetic lineage traces. Not the least of which because it is one of
the probable areas where humans first evolved. If you want to pinpoint
where your ancestors came from, they will give you a DNA test, send it
to Witswatersrand, and return the results to you within a month. Tests
cost around 2,000 rands, so this information does not come cheap. Many
paternity testing services, such as EasyDNA, can do ancestry tests as
well. So that's where I would start if you want to go through that
route. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.easydna.co.za/Ancestral-origins-dna-ancestry-test.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.easydna.co.za/Ancestral-origi...</a>
<br>
<br>
When it comes to tracing your last name, however, South Africa is
spotty at best. Centuries of war and regime changes have destroyed
many of the relevant records. Data from the early censuses are pretty
much gone for good. The Department of Home Affairs has fairly accurate
records of births, marriages, and deaths from around the 1890s onward
though. If you have your grandparents' names, you can request a full
certificate for them and proceed from there. Other areas you might
want to look into are court records. property transfers, church rolls,
and military records. Your provincial "Masters of the Supreme Court"
will have documents about wills and estates. You can request service
records from the SANDF if you have names and dates. But don't expect
them to have anything from before 1910. <br>
<br>
You can contact the Genealogical Society for their advice as well: <br>

how much does a author make?

answers1: Not enough to live from. Most authors have day jobs to help
pay for the bills.
answers2: *an author. Not much.
answers3: Depends on how well their books sell.
answers4: A normal author makes 20 to 100 grand a year
answers5: it really depends. depends on who publishes there book/how
many copies they sell.
answers6: If you plan to write to become rich, then pay attention to
"a author" part. <br>
<br>
But the answer is, it varies, some are broke, some make millions
answers7: This is a very tricky question because the answer has much
to do with how much the publisher is willing to pay, how much the book
sells (and you earn royalties), if your book gets reprinted, and if
you can continue to write more books and sell those as well. <br>
Authors also vary in the genre they write. Some pay better than
others. A good writer will write, submit, publish, and be writing in a
continual cycle. They will write short stories, market their writing,
and view their writing as a business as much as its a craft.
answers8: How much money an author makes depends on how well his or
her book sells. An author's contract with a publishing company
usually provides for the author to receive a small percentage of the
sale price every time someone buys a copy of the book. A bestselling
author can make a fortune. Most books earn their authors fairly
modest amounts.
answers9: it relatively is unquestionably extraordinary because of the
fact study practice that youthful/teen boys are much less susceptible
to ascertain lady protagonists and lady authors. portion of JK
Rowlings fulfillment is that she printed under JK, and not JoAnne, for
this reason no longer giving youthful male readers the 'turn off' of
seeing a woman author. Her important character is male. youthful women
human beings will examine the two lady or male protagonists so
traditionally there has been much less emphasis on what appeals to
them.
answers10: Depends on if their books get published or not, and how
many people buy the books.

What percentage of a purchased book does the author recieve?

answers1: That depends on his/her contract, but in general, an author
receives 6-10% for a paperback and 10-15% for a hardcover. This would
be from an actual bookstore sold at retail price. When you buy them
from discount stores such as Walmart or Target, it's much less. When
you can get them directly from the publisher, it's more, but that's
not likely unless you're talking small press or indie authors. <br>
<br>
Also, if an author receives an advance, which happens less all the
time, she'll only start receiving royalties after the sales go over
what she already got as an advance. So that advance may be the only
money she ever sees from the book sale.

Writing Question about Authors ?

answers1: Good authors learn all the rules, then break them. It's
necessary to know how to use punctuation according to the standard
rules, but as long as an author can get their point across
effectively, they can use the punctuation however they please (think
of poets ee cummings and Emily Dickinson). <br>
<br>
There are also small differences between the way Brits and Americans
use standard punctuation.
answers2: I disagree with Toad. Things such as the serial comma are
debated amongst writers all the time. Certain style guides say use
them, others say don't. <br>
<br>
There are basic rules behind punctuation, but those can be bent (to a
certain extent) to fit a certain writer's style. <br>
<br>
Writing is an art form; punctuation use really just depends on the artist. <br>
<br>
Example: I am a fan of the semi-colon. I think it is an underused tool
by the majority of writers I read. Most writers, I find, tend to end a
sentence with a period and start a new one instead of using a
semi-colon (which seems to have been more widely used in the 19th
century).
answers3: Punctuation is like maths, its right or wrong. They may
however have different writing styles.
answers4: While the author does initially write it, it's really up to
the editors. They're the ones that should know what's proper
punctuation and what's not. They should know the proper rules for
grammar, punctuation and spelling. They should not vary.

what are some good books for high schoolers?

answers1: Nokosee: Rise of the New Seminole by Micco Mann.
answers2: Try some of the books by Ruth Rendell. She also writes
under the pen-name Barbara Vine. She is the mistress of psychological
suspense. Her books are filled with surprises. She finds the weird
plots in everyday life, which always makes the possibilities more
frightening. So be brave and branch out from the usual teenage fare!
Some of my favorites are 'The Bridesmaid,' 'Heartstones,' 'A Sight
For Sore Eyes,' and 'Harm Done.' By Barbara Vine, look for 'The
Brimstone Wedding,' 'A Fatal Inversion,' and 'A Dark-Adapted Eye.'
Yes, murder, sex and drugs, from time to time.
